Officials claim that authorities in Pakistan have started making preparations to evacuate more than 80,000 people from the route of a cyclone that could strike the southern regions of Sindh province and Gujarat state in India.
According to officials in both countries, the cyclone, known as Biparjoy, is predicted to make landfall on Thursday afternoon between Mandvi in Gujarat and Karachi in Pakistan. Its maximum sustained wind speed is predicted to be between 125 and 135 kilometres per hour (78 and 84 miles per hour), with gusts as high as 150 km/h (93 mph).
